The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued data, according to which India’s annual inflation has been accelerated to 15.08 per cent in April, 2022 as compared to 10.74 percent in April, 2021.
The rate of inflation based on Wholesale Price Index (WPI) Food Index increased marginally from 8.71% in March, 2022 to 8.88% in April, 2022.
As per the statement, “The high rate of inflation in February 2022, is primarily due to rise in prices of mineral oils, basic metals, chemicals and chemical products, crude petroleum & natural gas, food articles and non-food articles etc. as compared to the corresponding month of the previous year.”
