Restoration Facility of Cancelled GST Registration Introduced by CBIC

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has introduced the facility of restoration of cancelled registration under Goods and Services Tax (GST) on its online   portal.

It would cover both the cancellations suo moto order by Range as well as cancelled on the request from the taxpayers. Further, the necessary permission to operate this functionality is being enabled for the Jurisdictional Range Officers, the Board said.

“As per the contractual obligations, the vendor (Wipro) is required to rectify the defects/ errors/ bugs noticed, if any, in the functionality within 30 days of its deployment to production. It is, therefore, requested that this advisory may be circulated among all the concerned officers for their guidance, and issues, if any, in performance of the functionality may immediately be reported to cbicmitra.helpdesk@icegate.gov.in for necessary resolution,” the Board further added.

The move will provide relief to many taxpayers whose registrations were cancelled suo moto and the time period of application for revocation of cancellation already lapsed.
