IRDAI to Act Against Insurance Companies Denying COVID related Cashless Claims

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman has asked the Insurance Regulatory Development Authority of India’s (IRDAI) chairman SC Kunthia to address the complaints of denial of cash less claims by insurance companies.

Through a series of tweets, she clarified “reports are being received of some hospitals denying cashless insurance”. IRDAI has asked insurance companies to prioritize settlement of COVID claims, she added.

Further, she mentioned, as on 20th April 2021, over 9 lakh COVID related claims have been settled by insurance companies for Rs 8,642 crore.
