If a Chartered Accountant has not applied for the membership within three years of clearing the CA FINAL exam or has not renewed his/her membership for three years then he/she has to mandatorily appear and pass the assessment.
ICAI to CAs, On 14th September 2020, New Delhi, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has released a notification NO. 1CA(7)/195/2020 proposing a draft of certain regulations further to amend the Chartered Accountant Regulation, 1988.
The regulation published to be known as the Chartered Accountants (Amendment) Regulation 2020, with respect to the application/renewal of membership of ICAI.
As per the amended regulations(Sub regulation (2) under Regulation 4 and proviso under Regulation 19), a person seeking membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India after a period of three years or more from the date of his passing the final CA examination with complying other provisions of these regulations or an applicant seeking for the restoration of his name after a period of three years or more from the date of removal of his name from the register of membership of ICAIshall be required to appear and pass such Assessment as may be approved by the Council from time to time.
